For reading over the past five weeks I have been focussing on:

I can monitor my reading for accuracy and sense, demonstrating that I have the confidence to adjust my reading (e.g., by varying the speed of reading, by rereading, and by attending to the most important information) when I encounter difficulties.


I can make connections between my prior knowledge and the concrete examples in a text in order to understand abstract ideas in the text.

During this time, I have been reading with the teacher and also using an online tool called Read Theory to help practise these skills.

My two favourite texts I read were:
  1. Books vs. Movies
  2. Making Your Own Pretzels

In ARTS this term we have been learning to:
Select and use techniques and relevant technologies to develop drama practice.
Here is a link to our online modelling book.

  • During this unit of learning we: have produced a silent movie called the chase.
  • Described the characteristics of silent performances the things we have to add in is a kick a slap and a waving finger
  • Identified different techniques used in silent performances difrrent things we did was near the end the bully beacomes freinds with the victm.
  • Used these techniques in a variety of different practice situations oi give meh that back! *kicks and slaps and waves finger*
  • Worked in a small group to put together our own silent performance our proformunce turned out great

The most challenging part of this unit of learning was beenig silent and not luaging because it was really fun

The two things that I enjoyed the most were:
  1. practising a chaseing each other
  2. the hole thing

Overall I think my group worked out really good.

in buddy program the year 7/8 take the little kids out to play and do fun games my first team was solani and crystal and we did hosplatle tag so pretty much hosplatle tag is a game wrere if you get taged once that means in the game you lose a life and you have four lifes if you run out 3 or more people have to pick you up and carry you to the person in the middle and once your there the person getting carried will be free and able to run away it ends when theres only 2 people because only 3 or more people can lift up a person.My second group was josh and jak we played ouctops with the little and if you don't know ocutops then ill tell you. So pretty much theres two tagers or three and everyone else is on a line and the tager shouts out OUCTOPUS and all the runners run to the opiste end wrere your safe if you get taged you are sea weed and you can't move you can only reach out to tag others and thats my blog post.

current events

WALT: I can successfully research a current event.

The National Standard that I have been aiming for during this unit of learning is: 7/8

  • Year7/8: I can use appropriate skills and technologies to find and use a range of texts for specific purposes.

Each week we have read a short text about a current event/ topic. We then formed questions based on what we had read.  After this we researched the answers to our questions and finally we gave our opinions on what we had found out.

Here is some evidence of my learning.

My Next Step is to continue to  apply the reading and  research skills that I have learned in a variety of other areas.

A skills based C.V. focuses more on the skills that we have,  rather than our work history.

my reading asment

Assessment task: I can recognise the features and purposes of familiar text types and use my knowledge to find my way around and understand texts

Black Sticks beat India to take series

The Black Sticks have beaten India in their latest International 6-2 to completed a clean sweep in their five match series. Striker Olivia Merry scored a double in the first quarter, Pippa Hayward, Natasha FitzSimons, Sam Harrison and Kirsten Pearce all added to card for the Black Sticks. Head coach Sean Dancer said despite the win there are areas the side needs to work on. “There are certainly areas we need to get better at, but I thought the performance today highlighted some positive things we’ve been working on,” he said. “To their credit India were tough, but a couple of our goals scored were scored through strong striker actions and that’s very pleasing.”
Goldilocks - a thief?
We all heard the story when we were little kids about a sweet blond who was hungry, so she got into the home of some bears to eat.
She was a good kid. Right? We all liked her and heard about her again and again.
Now think about it. If you are hungry. Would you get into someone's house?
Not only that she got into their home and ate the bears dinner, but she also BROKE THEIR CHAIRS!
That's already private property violation, theft, and vandalism! Enough to put you behind the bars for some time.
But that's not enough. She also went to sleep in their beds!
So that also adds an illegal house occupation attempt!

I think that it's all a big conspiracy trying to teach the young kids that stealing is fine and recommendable.
So were we fed with tales about a sweet girl, or about a thief and vandal?

the 52 story tree house

                                               the 52 story tree house

this story is about three people there names are andy,terry and jill in this book they go on very exiting adventers ill tell you about the characters more so there's jill she loves anamials i'm pretty sure if she could have every anamail in the world she would also she can understand anamalis. now about terry. terry is well a ummm a funny dude he takes nothing seriously and always aglest one day he annoys andy alot and andy runs after terry and andy wacks terry with a lamp or the closest thing to him. now andy he loves suger he never thinks terry is right but for some odd reson terry helps no mater what also this is really cool acully now that i think about it you have read the book and see whats cool.

my reading for term 1

this year iv'e been doing reading of the computer so what i would is get a story on the google classroom reading comprehension with Mr m and there would be seven questions and i would search through the story and try find the answers and put them in my book.what i do is i go down my book from one to seven and write them down and then turn in the activity on google class room

Investigate simple situations that involve elements of chance by comparing experimental results with expectations from models of all the outcomes, acknowledging that samples vary.


Why? I think its a 50 50 chance
